- Cover baking sheets with wax paper and set aside.
- Combine sugar and cocoa in a large saucepan. Stir in milk, butter and peanut butter. Cook and stir over medium heat until butter melts and mixture is combined. Remove from heat.
- Stir in the vanilla, oats and nuts, and mix thoroughly. Take a teaspoon and scoop out a spoonful of the mixture; drop the spoonful onto the waxed paper-covered baking sheet. Repeat with the rest of the mixture. Place in the refrigerator until the cookies are cooled and set. Store the cookies in an airtight container. Enjoy!
WARNING: Do not lick the batter like I did unless you want a terrific chocolate sugar high!
I had the loveliest thing happen to me. One of my readers sent me this recipe she created based on my infamous cow chip bingo scene from A GIRL LIKE YOU. If you’re from the south, or maybe just some remote area of nowhere, maybe you’ve heard of cow chip bingo? If not, then read my book (read it anyway!) and you’ll get what I’m talking about.
This recipe was courtesy of Linda Blurton, who was sweet enough to share it with me. I made it last weekend and brought it in to work. Success! They were all gone by the end of the night. My friend Lissa (yes, with 2 s’s) says that it’s similar to her reindeer turd recipe. Are we seeing a theme here?
These look fabulous! My boys will love them.
I love desserts named thing like this. Dirt Pudding was my favorite when I was a kid. Yay for Linda for the recipe!! 🙂
Oh, my kids loved dirt pudding too. Especially when they were covered in gummy worms!
Ohh. Emm. Gee!!
This looks SO GOOD, Maria!
I think it has everything I love…yum. Must try it soon ;).
